“ Akira ” fans will have a lot to celebrate in the coming years. Completely unrelated, although possibly timed to coincide with Taika Waititi’s forthcoming remake, the 1988 cyberpunk classic will receive an ultra-HD remastering. It will be the first time the animated film will be seen in 4K. In addition, director  Katsuhiro Otomo will revisit his crowning work in a new anime project based on the original manga. The updated version is set to release on blu-ray in Japan on April 24, 2020

10 videos to watch while you quarantine. Like many teenagers growing up in the ’90s/early ’00s, Shlohmo got his early kicks from punk music and skating. The Wedidit boss, real name Henry Laufer, grew up in LA and gained much of his musical education through skate videos – the grainy, DIY aesthetic and raw sounds coming to make an indelible imprint on his own work. The VHS skate tapes he collected for repeat viewing got him hooked on rap music and beat-led stuff, becoming his entry point into artists like Amon Tobin, DJ Shadow and Flying Lotus. On the brink of dropping his first album in four years, ‘The End’, via Friends of Friends/Wedidit, Shlohmo explains that the LP is “vaguely about the end of the world, but from the viewpoint of smoking on the couch during the extinction event.  SUNFLOWER is the upcoming single by BLVCKHNDZ. The Single Debuts on November 26th, 2019. The song was written and produced by Blvckhndz. Since his last project titled "ELEMENTS" Blvckhndz has featured on a few collaborations with fellow artists. Recently he's been putting most of his efforts into his own projects and harvesting the fruits of other opportunities to nourish the endeavors he holds dear to his heart. RVSHNFK will be launching a series of events that we hope will assist the collective on building a platform for local talented artists. The Event will feature 7 musicians and 3 visual artists with a special guest. The event takes place on August 24th. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 11:00 AM. EST. KINSHIPNFK is a celebration of a collaborative project by local artists. This is a multi-genre experience that consists of alternative Hip hop, Bedroom Pop, Synth wave, Experimental Fusion, indie/acoustic, and beautiful art.
